The mission of the 鲨鱼实验室 is to study the physiological and behavioral ecology of marine animals, emphasizing the effect of human activity on the ocean; to utilize and develop innovative technology to answer challenging questions important for the conservation and restoration of depleted populations; and to train the next generation of marine biologists.

Mark your calendars for Saturday July 22, 2023 from 10:00am-3:00pm to immerse yourself in a day of learning and fun. Complimentary parking is available in the Foundation parking lot, and shuttle service will be available to transport visitors to and from the event space. 停车 is limited and available on a first-come first-served basis.

Register for one of our two workshops if you are an Elementary Teacher

We are delighted to present to you two professional development opportunities that will help elementary teachers inspire students through science. Our K-2nd program will take your students on a journey through the remarkable life of Eugenie Clark, affectionately known as "The Shark Lady." As one of the first female researchers of shark behavior and a trailblazer in scuba diving, Clark's story is a testament to the power of perseverance and passion. Our 3rd-5th program is equally compelling, offering students a chance to delve into the fascinating world of California elasmobranch species and their remarkable adaptations to their unique habitats. Led by our education team, we hope to ignite a sense of wonder and curiosity in your students, fostering a lifelong love of learning.

These are 1-hour in-person workshops for pre-service and in-service teachers:

This summer 鲨鱼实验室 members will be visiting multiple beaches across Southern California. During these events graduate, undergraduate students and lab staff will teach you interesting facts about sharks and the technology that the lab is using to study these amazing creatures. Kids will also learn how to enjoy the beach while being safe with our beach safety tips.
